Son La exports first 30 tonnes of mango to the US, Canada and Australia
This is a good news for local farmers as their fruit has been allowed to enter these fastidious markets amid the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic.
After the ceremony, all 30 tonnes of mango will be transported to the South for quality inspection and irradiation before being shipped to the aforementioned countries.
Mango grown in Mai Son district is of a high quality, a nice shape, and an appropriate size and weight for export to the US. Son La province has about 2,640ha of mango with an estimated volume of over 14,200 tonnes per year.
This season, Mai Son district has 593ha of mango registered with area farming codes including 422ha of which meet VietGAP standards. Approximately 6,500 tonnes of mango are expected to meet the requisite standards for exports.
